Founded in the early twentieth century in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, between Marsannay and Chambolle-Musigny, the company has always been family-run. With the fifth generation at the helm, a new wind blows on the Domaine Georges Lignier. Since 2003, Georges' nephew, Benoît Stehly, has been managing the domaine which extends over 16 hectares with 17 appellations divided between 50 plots, mainly planted with Pinot Noir. After important collaborations abroad and with an important oenological background, Benoît is producing excellent wines including four Grand Crus. A rising star to keep an eye on!

The domaine’s majestic vineyard portfolio includes almost 1.5 Ha of Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru (The domaine is the largest owner within this grand cru), 1.05 Ha of Clos de la Roche Grand Cru and 0.29 Ha of Bonnes Mares Grand Cru. Furthermore, there are vineyard holdings in Charmes-Chambertin (Grand Cru), Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru “Les Combottes” and Morey-St.-Denis 1er Cru “Clos des Ormes”. Domaine Georges Lignier owns a total of 16 Ha of vineyards in 17 different appellations.

Both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are used, depending on the specific vineyard. The average age of the vines is over 50 years. Truly a “grand domaine” in Burgundy with a remarkable consistency and competitive prices in their whole line-up.
