The La Massa farm is located in the famous Chianti Classico area, in Panzano, in the Conca d'Oro. The 27 hectares of vineyards, dating back to the 15th century, boast clayey and limestone soils, particularly rich in shale, which give the wine the great minerality that distinguishes this winery. The current owner, Giampaolo Motta, bought the property in 1992 after having accumulated several years of experience in important and solid Chianti cellars.

With his friend and enologist Carlo Ferrini and later with Stéphane Derenouncour as a consultant, he obtains excellent results with his wines, which represent an ideal combination of tradition and modernism. The company philosophy is that of continuous improvement both in the vineyard and in the cellar. From this point of view, the meticulous care of the vines and the rigorous selection of the grapes are reflected in the cellar, giving life to balanced, fine, complex wines with a great and atypical personality. In fact, Giampaolo pours his great love for France into his wines, especially Bordeaux, favoring varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot.
