List of products by brand Agnanum
The Agnanum farm, by Raffaele Moccia, is located near Naples, within the Astroni Natural Park. The vineyards are located on steep hills of volcanic origin which are part of the Phlegraean Fields. The volcanic soil and extremely fine texture, difficult to work and which requires a lot of manual work for the care of the vines and the steep terraces. In these difficult conditions the yields are very low, the harvests are late and the vinification is aimed at enhancing the characteristics of the traditional vines (falanghina and piedirosso ungrafted) and the soil. The result is unique wines characterized by great personality and expression of the territory with excellent drinkability.
The Agnanum winery can be easily identified as part of the so-called Italian “heroic viticulture”, a solid and small family business whose heart beats fast for wine despite the very difficult working conditions. Located in Campania, on the top of the historic volcanic hills of the green oasis of the Astroni Natural Park, the company boasts four brave hectares located along a black sandy soil and placed on steep and narrow terraces. The terroir is unique and is vines half in Piedirosso and half in Falaghina, ancient and native plants, whose grapes have a completely distinguishable flavor. The work of Raffaele Moccia is devoted to it, a hard work, carried out with the strength of the arms, the mastery of craftsmanship and the passion of the heart. A love for wine inherited from his father Gennaro, who had started building the vineyard in 1960. To date, Raffaele has managed to wrest another hectare of land from the harsh earth next to the historic vineyard, for some stretches two centuries old. The yield remains low and the harvest is late, conditions that are flanked by a choice of "low intervention" and which characterize the numbered bottles made of magnificent rare ruby-colored jewels ... wines that contain a throbbing energy, the same as their manufacturers.
