List of products by brand Fratelli Alessandria
The heart of the winery resides in the large 18th-century house with sober and majestic lines, close to the historic center of Verduno.
Gian Battista, his wife Flavia, brother Alessandro and son Vittore are the proud witnesses of the family's centuries-old winemaking tradition and passion and represent the 7th and 8th generations of winemakers (the first 3 generations as Fratelli Dabbene and then Fratelli Alessandria following a marriage around 1870).
The winery makes wine exclusively from its own grapes, and has maintained a family dimension. These requirements make it possible to establish a direct and "personal" relationship with the individual vineyards and barrels, an invisible but important thread that hopefully will reach and "excite" the consumer through the bottle.
Located in a charming 18th-century mansion with simple but imposing architecture, right next to the historic center of Verduno, the Fratelli Alessandria winery was founded in 1870. The history of the winery is intertwined with the history of this winemaking family itself. Giuseppe Alessandria, the progenitor and founder of the winery, began cultivating vines in the early 1800s.
Over the generations, passion and experience have been passed down from father to son, creating a deep bond with the land and local traditions. Today, Gian Battista Alessandria together with his wife Flavia run the winery. Assisted by his brother Alessandro and the new generation represented by their son Vittore, they proudly carry on the tradition and passion for winemaking.
The first acknowledgements of the quality of Fratelli Alessandria wines date back as far as 1843 with the awarding of two gold medals as part of an agrarian competition held at the initiative of the King of Savoy Carlo Alberto. Since then it has been a succession of successes and awards.
The vineyards and the style of wines
The estate covers about 15 hectares of land between the towns of Verduno and Monforte d'Alba embracing the hills of Roero and Langhe, two prestigious wine regions. Here, the vines are grown using traditional methods and respecting the environment, allowing the grapes to best express the character of the land.
In total, there are nine different plots representing a variety of different terroirs. From these vineyards, Fratelli Alessandria produces a selection of Barolo wines, including three single-vineyard expressions that correspond to Monvigliero, San Lorenzo and Gramolere.
In addition to its range of Barolo wines, the winery also produces a collection of excellent Piedmontese wines. The most celebrated are Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba, but a real hidden gem is the Verduno Pelaverga wine.
