List of products by brand Chateau d'Esclans
Château d’Esclans, a magical property, is situated in the heart of Provence, northeast of St. Tropez. With his acquisition of the Château in 2006, Sacha Lichine’s vision was to create the greatest rosés in the world, igniting the “Rosé Renaissance”. Now in its sixteenth vintage, Château d’Esclans is home to Whispering Angel.
Château d'Esclans is located twenty-five kilometers northwest of the ancient Roman city of Fréjus on the Mediterranean coast.
The winery, located in the center of the Var department, where most Provence AOC rosés are produced, was originally part of a castle dating from before the 12th century. In 1201, Gérard De Villeneuve, a member of a wealthy Marseille family, took possession of the château and much of the Vallée d´Esclans and later ceded the château to the brothers Sauveur Louis Ranque and François Alexandre Ranque.
Then, in 1875, the two sold the property to Joseph Toussaint Caussemille; it later passed to the Perraud family and was purchased by Sacha Lichine, the current owner, in 2006. Today the estate has a total of 427 hectares, of which 140 are planted with vines.
On the property, the variety given the most space is undoubtedly grenache; in fact, Cave d'Esclan is known for its old grenache vines, capable of yielding grapes with highly concentrated juices. Other varieties include cinsault, merlot, mourvèdre, syrah, and tibouren.
From the time he bought the property, Sacha Lichine was clear about his goal: to create the greatest Rosés in the world.
In fact, Sacha, showing great foresight, sensed that Rosé, thought out, produced and marketed differently could gain new interests and alternative market slices; all of which led to the creation of an entire range of Rosés, from "Whispering Angel" to "Rock Angel," from "Garrus" to "Château d'Esclans."
Today, all of Sacha's Rosés are of excellent quality, are internationally known, and enthusiasts and insiders only confirm their value.
