The Bolgheri winery Ca 'Marcanda was born from the initiative and genius of Angelo Gaja: 100 hectares of vineyards immersed in the beautiful natural environment in the Bolgheri area. Arrived here in 1996 after exhausting negotiations with the previous owners of the land (hence the name 'Ca' Marcanda ', meaning' haggling ', in Piedmontese), Gaja managed in a few years, with huge investments and production efforts, to make Ca 'Marcanda one of Bolgheri's essential signatures.

The winery is located among vineyards planted between 97 and 98 on very fertile land and particularly suited to fruit growing and viticulture. The study of the land determines the production choices: the redest soils are reserved for the production of Promis; the more calcareous ones at Camarcanda; those mixed with Magari. The vines grown are those typical of the area: Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot, Syrah. The wines produced by Ca 'Marcanda are distinguished by a modern mold, however anchored to the traditions of Bolgheri: the blends of the typical grapes of the area mature in barriques for shorter or longer periods, depending on the label.

These are enveloping and round wines, embellished by an aromatic fullness in which balsamic hints and fruity aromas stand out. The range of wines that Gaja shows off in this magnificent part of Tuscany is made up of high quality bottles, each with its own specific character, different and magnificent interpretations of the territory.
