Giovanni Canonica is one of the most famous vignerons of the Langhe. His winery is located in the historic village of Barolo and his property, which does not reach three hectares, has vineyards in the prestigious and renowned areas of Paiagallo and Grinzane Cavour. It produces a total of about 7,000 bottles of Barolo per year, which are literally snapped up. They are coveted labels, not only by the most attentive and curious Italian connoisseurs, but also sought after internationally, especially in Japan.

The secret of Giovanni Canonica's success can be summarized in a few words: passion, tradition, consistency and love for the land. After his studies in oenology in Alba, he continued his training mainly by frequenting friends producers and tasting their wines. His approach to Barolo was experimental, made up of trial and error and a great desire to learn and improve. He has always been a supporter of a genuine wine, which is almost made by itself. For this reason, his attention is entirely focused on the vineyard, in order to obtain healthy grapes rich in aromas. In the cellar, vinification takes place with indigenous yeasts and with the use of a light enology, which tends not to intervene unless absolutely necessary, without clarification and with a very low use of sulfur.
